Fun in Astra OPC (221 km/h +)

Hoi vrienden



I went to a "high speed oval" yesterday here in South Africa (1800m above sea level). I managed to do 221km/h in my stock OPC! What a great day, plenty of amazing cars!



The oval is 3km long, with two 400m straights and banked corners. I put the video on the OPC page on facebook (hope the link works), but will try get it onto youtube tonight.

@wim-v6: That is something I would love to do, take a run on the Autobahn. Nice speed there!



My speedometer said 250km/h but the true speed was 221.



We actually had a policeman there with is laser speed trapping equipment, and he couldn't read some of the cars (specifically the matt black cars).



I wanted to take a longer and better video, but most of the time I was holding on for my dear life. It is really scary when you are passenger and someone else is driving your car at 200 on a corner

My speedometer said 250km/h but the true speed was 221.

Very nice! Opel V6 - we don't get any here



Up in Johannesburg we need turbo cards, our altitude is 1800m above sea. NA cars lose about 15% power :shock:

I think the drag around the mudflapss @ 200+ kph might slows you down Willem :jerry



I can remember 3 years ago your speedo shows higher speeds, even above 250 !

I think the drag around the mudflapss @ 200+ kph might slows you down Willem :jerry

but you guys have a stock Astra F with C20LET and 4 & 5 doors body's with authentic GSI skirts etc..

Weird actually, as the GSI has proven a very popular version here in Western Europe.

I bet Opel/GM should have done great business when they had these here on the pricelists as well back in the ninetees.

Oh the classic 200ts! Yes we were lucky with that Those cars are amazing. They get more and more rare every day.



We only get the 1.4t, 1.6, and 1.6t in the Astra J - I am very upset about it. Saw a 2.0cdti Astra J in London when I was there in April.



What are your thoughts on the Astra J?
